FASA establishes Justin Armitage Financial Aid Scholarship Program    

For many years Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association has awarded Financial Aid for local soccer players.  In 2006 this program is being renamed in honor of Justin Armitage and will be expanded to offer additional scholarships!  Anyone wishing to donate to this very worthwhile program in Justin's memory - please contact Pete Cinalli via email at coachingdirector@hotspurs.org.  All proceeds will go directly to players in need of Financial Aid!

Justin Armitage.....

On March 10^th 2006 Fredericksburg lost one of its brightest soccer stars produced through the areas select programs. Justin was one of only three players to be selected to the Virginia All-State team three years during his high school career. Following graduation he had many offers to play at top collegiate soccer programs throughout the country. He chose to enroll at James Madison University a NCAA Division I program that was ranked as one of the top 10 programs in the country. Despite being red shirted his first year Justin made a significant impression both on the coaching staff as well as his teammates. The skills and determination learned over the years came from several points including his family, coaches including those from FASA, and fellow athletes. One of Justin’s more remarkable traits was his overwhelming desire to help improve the skills of players around him. This was evidenced both in his club teams as well as his high school squad. Justin made several connections through coaching staffs, fellow athletes and fans of soccer in the Fredericksburg area. His presence will be sorely missed. As he wished to help those less fortunate and in honor of his contributions to the Soccer community of Fredericksburg we would like to rename our Financial Aid scholarship in his honor and expand the number of scholarships to soccer athletes that would otherwise not be able to afford to play select soccer.
